APS Sport Programs

Summer, Winter and Spring Seasons
APS Sport is conducted over three seasons, Summer (Term 4 and Term 1), Winter (Terms 2 & 3) and Spring (Terms 3 & 4).

There are 20 Secondary Sports played throughout the sporting year.

Summer – Badminton, Cricket, Diving,  Futsal, Rowing, Softball, Swimming, Table Tennis, Tennis and Volleyball
Winter – Basketball, Cross Country, Football, Hockey, Netball and Soccer
Spring – Athletics and Water Polo

Athletics
Athletics Lead Up meets are conducted on a weekly basis in August and September culminating in the APS Combined Athletics Sports Day for both Boys and Girls at Lakeside Stadium, Albert Park, usually on the second Saturday in October.

Rowing
Lead Up Regattas are conducted on a weekly basis in Term 1 culminating in the APS Rowing Regatta (Heads of the River) for both Boys and Girls at Nagambie Lakes on the last Saturday of Term 1.

Swimming & Diving
Swimming & Diving Lead Up meets are conducted on a weekly basis during Term 1 culminating in the APS Combined Swimming & APS Combined Diving Sports for both Boys and Girls at the Melbourne Sports and Aquatic Centre on an evening in late March.

Representative Teams
At the conclusion of the Summer and Winter seasons, Representative APS teams are selected to play matches against the AGSV, GSV, QSS or other Associations.


APS Girls’ Sport

AGSV/APS Girls Sport
In 2001 the five co-educational Associated Public Schools – Carey Grammar, Caulfield Grammar, The Geelong College, Geelong Grammar and Wesley College together with the five co-educational Associated Grammar Schools – Assumption College, Ivanhoe Grammar, Penleigh & Essendon Grammar School, The Peninsula School and Yarra Valley Grammar combined, and now play the following sports on Saturdays at Senior, Intermediate and Junior levels.

Summer – Badminton, Softball, Tennis, Touch Football and Volleyball
Winter – Basketball, Football, Hockey, Netball and Soccer

Haileybury introduced a Girls’ school in 2005 and Mentone Grammar became a co-educational school in 2006, making twelve schools in total.


APS Primary Sport

APS Primary Sport is conducted over four Terms.  There are 17 Primary Sports played throughout the sporting year.

Term 1 – Cricket, Softball, Swimming & Diving and Tennis
Term 2 – Cross Country, Football, Netball and Volleyball
Term 3 – Basketball, Handball, Hockey and Soccer
Term 4 – Athletics, Badminton, Table Tennis, Touch and Water Polo
